Commission for :iconflippedoutkyrii:, who also wrote the story. Luna's gone full mama-bear mode, and a certain prince is her target. Shishkabobs, anyone?

"Are you done admiring yourself, dear sister?"
The dark blue Alicorn simply flicked her ear in response, turning to her side as she ran her black gloves over any imperfections in her commanding military uniform. A relic in any sense of the word, but it was most becoming of Luna for such a night as the Grand Galloping Gala.

It has been four years since Luna has graced the night once more with her watchful presence and well over a thousand since she has attended a proper gala, having spent the last three Gala's attending her duties as Princess of the Night and her first gala back in Equestria over-indulging herself in all the works of Rob Ghoul.

On vinyl, of course.

A selfish means of toiling the night away, but it turned out to be a cunning decision in hindsight, considering how much of a disaster the Gala became by the stroke of midnight.
Celestia giggled once more, placing her wine sample down on a silver platter as she ran a finger down the base of the next. "If you had been this vain during the battle of Bane Creek, you're entire unit would have fallen under the might of the Griffon army." Celestia stifled a laugh as Luna struck another confident pose. "I can see you now, your sword piercing the heavens atop that plateau. Is your uniform just the way you remembered it?

"My Epaulettes could have been shined to a brighter decree, and the lining in my Coat feels a little rough around the edges." Luna replied, running a few fingers down the belt holding her sword aloft at her side. "Otherwise, our staff has done a splendid job restoring my Military Dress to proper order." Luna beamed with pride, turning on her heel and striding away from the mirror with loud footfalls of her buckled cavalry boots. "But what I would have given to have worn such comfortable boots such as these during that agonizing day. That bedrock was murder."

Celestia smiled in response, before bringing her nose to the rim of her wine glass, swirling the contents as she did so. "I'll be sure to spread the word to our seamstresses and leathersmiths. Care to sample the Vanhoover Delight? Over one hundred years of fermentation, crafted by the hands of some of the finest winemakers outside of Canterlot."

"Please, you know my standards, Tia. I sip a heavier brew. Preferably on the rocks." Luna smirked, passing a wink to the maid holding the silver tray aloft. Celestia happily sipped from her glass, letting the intoxicating allure of the concoction embrace her. The maid did not need to heed anymore approval, as the look of sheer bliss on Princess Celestia's face was enough of a reply. Nodding, the mare hastily retreated into the staff quarters, ready to serve one of many particular bottles to any guest who inquired a taste. "Pray tell, how long do you suppose our guests will voice disapproval at our tardiness? I believe the Griffon entourage has already drank themselves to sleep but the Saddle Arabians are a cumbersome sort."

"In due time, let our congregation enjoy themselves, sister." Princess Celestia shrugged, her elegant dress gliding over the tiled floor as she made her way to the entrance hall, Princess Luna followed suit. "And the Saddle Arabians are easy to appease. I do believe the star attraction tonight will keep them satisfied for the time being. A most welcome compromise for our tardiness after sampling a late shipment of wine. Every bottle must be inspected by a royal, after all. Nopony shall bear the unpleasant afterbite of a Lizardlick Red in my presence." Luna nodded in response, passing saluting guards in shining armored plating.

"And what would our star attraction be?"

"The Elements of Harmony, of course!
They have assembled quite the orchestra, judging from the rehearsal I had the pleasure of attending.

"If Pinkie Pie is at the helm of this show, I believe we will be cleaning confetti out of the tapestries and chandeliers for months to come.

"-Oh Luna, it only took a few weeks to clean up our Birthday bash."

"-Is the Royal Guard on standby in the case this event ends in disaster?" Celestia blinked in response.

"Right to the point, I see. Yes, indeed. Shining Armor is in attendance too, his charisma and unwavering determination will come into play if there is a nasty food fight." Celestia giggled, much to Luna's displeasure.
"Oh don't pout, Luna. The Gala is a time to enjoy ourselves, and to welcome the company of our loyal subjects!"

"-And what of Discord?"

"-Enjoying a game of poker. Angel has quite the winning streak, it seems-"

"-And Prince Blueblood?"

"let's not dwell on him at the moment-"

"Has he retired to his lavish penthouse for the night with his entourage?"

Princess Celestia flinched, stopping a in her tracks. Turning to her sister, the purely white Alicorn's friendly and humorous demeanor faded. "Luna... we have talked about this, I have talked to Blueblood myself many times regarding this-"

"-And talking is not good enough." Luna spat. "What he had done to Rarity is unacceptable. His garish behavior that night is most unbecoming of a Prince! Long ago, a Prince who had treated a noblemare with such barbaric antagonism would be impeached, lashed and sentenced to the dungeon. Not a light slap on the wrist, house arrest in his lavish penthouse and a stern letter of disapproval-!"

"Prince Blueblood has learned his lesson, sister. He has long since mended his outlook on those before him, I can see and feel that in his character. Rarity even attended several events in Bluebloods company since then! If the mare he had mistreated before overlooked and forgave his past transgressions, then why is it so hard for you to do the same?"

"Because he is a master of deceit, Tia. A conniving snake with a devilish tongue, one that should never have graced Canterlot Castle. I do not see any of these characteristics you speak of, Tia! All I see is a prolific liar that treads on the names, prestige and nobility of those who toiled away years to reach where they were in a time that was far more unforgiving and brutal then the peace and stability he takes for granted today! You have nigh infinite compassion for your subjects and are the most forgiving Pony I know, and yet, I feel that very powerful trait is your greatest weakness. Can you not see he is using your gift of compassion for his own gain? How he snidely mistreats staff and treats our highly trained soldiers like common janitors? How he is nothing short of a-!"

"Your majesty!" the commanding voice of a stallion pierced the tension and cut the heated discussion between the two sisters short. Clambering down the hall into view in full ceremonial armor, the soldier hastily saluted in response as he stood up tall in the presence of his Royal company. "The Saddle Arabian Shaman is demanding your presence at once! He is most displeased with Princess Twilight and his temper is starting to flare. Princess Twilight is trying to mend the diplomatic chaos but her words are falling on literal deaf ears."

Princess Celestia's eyes went wide with this new revelation. "Oh my, what ever could have happened?"

"-A friendship cannon to the face. He's bleeding confetti from his ears."

Princess Celestia brought her hand to her muzzle in concern.

"He is threatening the staff, you must see to him at once."

"We will be in attendance immediately." Princess Celestia hastily replied, the soldier saluting in response. Turning to Princess Luna, the Pearly White Alicorn shifted her shoulders. "Luna, we will speak of this later."

"Agreed." Luna nodded.

"How does my mane look?"

"Mother would be proud. How is my uniform?"

"Father would be happy to lead you down the aisle to your groom to be."

"In due time." Luna replied with a playful smile, Princess Celestia did the same.

The Princess of the Night hastily pulled at the collar of her jacket and flattened out her wrinkles, throwing her early concerns on the backburner as the two stomped down the corridor to the main event, ready to put a stop to whatever 'Friendship' problem has since arisen and quell any further hostility between two nations. As they approached, the crescendo of hundreds of voices echoed through the tiled chambers and halls of the Castle, a cacophony of yelling and the unmistakable sound of a party cannon discharging once more. As Luna bit her lip, another sound greeted her ears.

Crying.

Luna's ears flicked as she realized they were not coming from the Gala, but rather, from around the corner.

Stumbling into view, nopony other than Princess Cadence staggered into the clearing, her deep blue dress bearing rips and her mane disheveled and ruffled.. Taken aback by her haggard appearance, Princess Celestia gasped and broke out of her stride to the Gala to embrace her adopted niece as Princess Luna recoiled in shock.

"C-Cadence!" Princess Celestia stammered helped the Cerise Alicorn stand aloft as her knee's buckled. "What in Equestria has happened to you?!" Shaking and red with humiliation and anger, Princess Cadence choked back tears.

"Th-that brute!" Cadence cried aloud, quaking as her legs buckled. "T-the nerve-!" Princess Cadence choked once more, wallowing in Princess Celestia's embrace.

Luna couldn't believe what she was seeing. Princess Cadence. A mare who ruled her own kingdom, a mare who displayed nonstop care and affection for those around her during every waking moment since her youth, who had the power to cast some of the most powerful spells known to ponykind, was a whimpering wreck nearly falling to her knee's in grief.

"Cadence..." Luna spoke, her fists clenched, her commanding demeanor casting utmost concern in her tone. "What happened?" Peering out of the corner of her eye, Princess Cadence choked.

"Bl-blueblood!"

Her temper flaring, Princess Luna immediately brought her hand to her sword holster.

"Luna!" Princess Celestia shouted in shock.

"You will defuse the situation in the main hall, you will notify Shining Armor and you will make sure Princess Cadence is attended to immediately! I am not going to stand idely by as you admonish him once more with a slap on the wrist! I am going to settle this."

"Luna, please, we need to let calm heads prevail-"

"I! Will settle this!" Luna snapped, turning on her heel and stomping away in the direction of Blueblood's penthouse. "Princess Cadence deserves better, and Prince Blueblood sure as HELL doesn't deserve our mercy any further!"

What he has done is disgraceful. Any right minded Gentlemen would slap him with the white glove and call him out in duel of Honor.
