We've discussed favorite villains before. We've discussioned music quite a few times before. So let me ask you wicked little lovelies something more: What's your favorite villain song? Could be official, could be fan made, could have lyrics, could be purely instrumental. Whatever makes you feel that something wicked this way comes!

I broke into :iconmustlovefrogs:'s house and stole this meme from her.

A genre/style I've tried but decided it isn't for me:

Anime/Manga. I just can never get it right. Too many sharp angles I think, especially with heads and faces. And elaborate hair. Really, really elaborate hair.

Common art advice I find hard to follow:

The whole "make everything out of shapes first" thing. I can't do it, or at least not properly. I'll make a basic framework and some shapes for the really important stuff (the head, pelvis, hands, and feet, since everything else flows from them), but make EVERYTHING a shape? Can't do it, no siree.

Biggest art-related fear:

Something happening to my hands. If they go, well, going to be real hard to make more stuff.

A project I've been putting off:

Oh lordy where do I begin. Probably the biggest being more Driftwood writing. And Driftwood character profiles. And Driftwood art this isn't just Nia being a little poot or Flee and Hellfire snuggling in various ways. And Driftwood lore being actually written down. And...

A subject I feel like I'll never master:

Vehicles. Definitely vehicles. And guns. And probably most mechs. And mechanical things in general, actually. And really, really big backgrounds/landscapes.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate my artistic skills:

By my completely fair and totally unbiased rating, from one to ten, I am at least an eleven. No, but seriously, probably a solid five. Competent enough to put most of what I want to make to paper (well, metaphorical paper, since it's digital), but certainly not exactly astounding.

A subject or theme I avoid in my work:

Gore's a big one. I think in my entire artistic career I've done so... once. And that was some hideous eldritch abomination getting chopped with a sword. And hell, that might have been back in my Tahublade days. Geeze.

The most challenging project I've ever worked on:

Oof, hard to say. Most of the really hard stuff has been in the past.

Nia Blep

I'm tempted to say this, not because the drawing itself was hard, but because it was the result of a self-imposed crash course to learn how to draw that took place over the course of I'd say six months or so. Certainly not exactly eye-catching on it's own, but I'm tempted to say it was one of the first real breakthroughs I made.

How I deal with creative blocks:

By just letting them pass. Took a while to learn it, but if the muse isn't singing, you can't make her. Go do something else for a while, until you hear that song playing again. You can't force creativity.

A skill I stopped learning (and have no regrets):

Honestly, I'm not sure I really have an answer for this. I guess drawing on physical media. I started out that way, and then got a cheap tablet and switched to digital fairly early on. Having a back button and being able to work in layers just can't be beaten.

How I handle criticism and feedback:

If it's from friends, it's invaluable. I can sooth my fragile ego by telling it that it's not a personal attack, and they have a habit of knowing what they're talking about. "The eyes are wonky and that spine position is basically impossible" is the sort of thing I want to know from them. If it's a total stranger, then my fragile ego flares up. How DARE you, sir! How dare you insult my absolutely perfect and flawless- oh wow yeah hands don't look like that, but HOW DARE YOU SIR. Even worse when I don't know WHY they didn't like something. Why did you downvote this, random anonymous Derpibooru user? Oh... you didn't think to filter out the anthro tag and got your panties in a knot over having to see it. Gotchya.

My biggest motivator as an artist:

Because drawing cute smol things is fun.

A skill I have that won't pay the bills:

Wanna see me rollerblade on one foot? Want to pay me for it? No? Well shit.

A project I abandoned and why:

Oh plenty, but the biggest one would probably be "RariSweetiChief" or whatever I called it. Mainly just due to a lack of interest in the concept, but also partly due to a co-writer and I having vastly different visions for the end goal. I wanted to keep it slice-of-life, he wanted something far more grand and dramatic. Didn't work out.

A color I rarely use and why:

Reds, and a lot of the "warmer" colors. Not that I never use them, but outside of pinks, about the only time I use stuff from that end of the color spectrum is because I have to. Mostly due to fanart. Can't stick Amy Rose in a blue dress, can I, or color Hellfire green, right? Left on my own, I tend to stick pretty closely to the cooler blues, purples, and greens. As to why, I think I just find that end of the spectrum a lot harder to work with. Ger red wrong, and it's blindingly bright. Get orange wrong, and it's all rusty and brown and dull. Get yellow wrong, and it looks like... well, it looks like a lot of things and none of them are pleasant.

A hobby or interest that competes with art:

Mostly video games, especially minecraft. I have to fulfill my megalomaniacal fantasies somehow!

A place I feel most creative:

At work when I have little more than my own thoughts to keep me company and they go wild thinking up new ideas!... Then I'm reminded that I won't see my studio for another five hours and have to just brood.

A place I feel least creative:

Late at night when I should have gone to bed an hour ago but I'm staring at my monitor and the nine projects i have open, stylus dangling loosely between my fingers.

The most unexpected inspiration for my art:

Let's see... The Sweetie and Master Chief thing came about basically as a fluke as I wanted some big tough manly character to use in a single piece, and Chief was the first model I stumbled across. I have a character that was based on a BABW plush sitting on my shelf. Birch's whole world and her personality basically came about because her model looked really cute in an old-timey dress. A semi-forgotten movie from the 90s has pretty much solidified my main character dynamic ever since I started making stuff.

My main challenge as an artist this year:

Same as it ever is: Make stuff that people are paying me for in a reasonable-ish for me timeframe.

Commissions!

Well it's been a blue moon and a half since I opened these up again. I have no idea of that's a way you can measure time, but it is now. So speaketh Owl.

Any-dang-ways, i am saving up for the holidays, so I am opening up commissions! I'm going to do a flat rate of 30 usd a character, so drop me a note with the details, and claim a slot here by commenting a fact about manta rays. It doesn't have to be true, it just has to involve the majestic flap-flaps.

Going to aim for roughly six slots, but that's not set in stone.

It's been a while since we've had one of these discussions, but it is spooky season, so let's get a little evil, shall we? So, let me ask you: Who's your favorite villain? Who's your favorite diabolical do-badder?

Hello, my lovelies! So, my birthday is coming up, and I thought a fun way to celebrate it with you all is to have a big open call on Discord. Maybe stream something while we do it. Could do a little heavily modded Skyrim or Fallout 4, or hell, even break out Daz again and make something horrifying. What do you all think? You up for that? If there's enough interest, I'll set up a server and post an invite code, and we could decide what you all want to do. Probably won't be a super long stream, an hour or two maybe, but it could be fun!

Let me know what you think! EDIT: Facepalm made a good point. The tentative date for the stream is tomorrow at 5pm, EDT
